Thanks to a first grant from the European Union (Contract no. BMH4 983531 CA 1998/2001) PRINTO was able to cross culturally adapt and validate 2 childhood questionnaires for the health related quality of life evaluation: the Childhood Health Assessment Questionnaire (CHAQ) and the Child Health Questionnaire (CHQ). A total of 6,644 subjects were enrolled from 32 countries: 3,235 patients had JIA, while 3,409 were healthy children. The results of the project have been published in 2001 a supplement on Clinical and Experimental Rheumatology. The database generated from the above project constitutes an important tool to be accessed by all paediatricians who aim to look more deeply at the data gathered.
